Set up ClickIntent in minutes
ClickIntent adds lead capture buttons to any page or post using a simple shortcode. Clicks, form submissions, and conversions are tracked automatically in your WordPress dashboard.
Requirements
| Requirement | Minimum version |
|---|---|
| WordPress | 5.8 or higher |
| PHP | 7.4 or higher |
| MySQL | 5.7 or higher |
| ClickIntent Pro (optional) | Requires free plugin 1.1.0+ |
Installation
Install the plugin
In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New and search for ClickIntent. Click Install Now, then Activate.
Alternatively, download the .zip file and upload it via Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
Create your first Section CTA
Navigate to ClickIntent → Section CTAs in the admin sidebar. A Section is a named CTA button configuration — give it a label (e.g., Homepage Hero) and set your button text and destination.
Each Section gets a unique Section ID (a short slug like homepage-hero) that you'll use in your shortcode.
Add the shortcode to a page
Copy your Section ID and paste the shortcode into any page, post, or widget that supports shortcodes:
[clickintent id="homepage-hero"]
A button will appear on the frontend. When clicked, it opens your lead capture form and begins tracking the event automatically.
Check your analytics
Go to ClickIntent → Analytics to see click counts and conversions, and to ClickIntent → Leads to view captured contact details. Data appears immediately after the first visitor interaction — no configuration needed.
Installing ClickIntent Pro
ClickIntent Pro is a separate plugin purchased from the ClickIntent website. It requires the free plugin to be active — it will not work on its own.
Purchase and download
After purchasing from the ClickIntent website, download the clickintent-pro.zip file from your account area.
Install alongside the free plugin
Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, select the Pro zip, and activate it. Both plugins must be active simultaneously.
Activate your Pro license
Go to ClickIntent → Pro License in your WordPress admin. Enter the API license key from your ClickIntent account and click Activate License. Your key will be verified against the license server and Pro features will unlock immediately upon successful validation.
Pro features are now active
Once your license is verified, additional options appear throughout the plugin — including extended date filters, exports, funnel analytics, webhook configuration, external CTA tracking, and more.
Data & Privacy
ClickIntent stores lead and event data in your own WordPress database. No personal data is sent to external servers unless you explicitly opt in to geolocation tracking.
Geolocation tracking (opt-in)
Geolocation tracking is disabled by default. If you choose to enable it in ClickIntent → Settings, the plugin will transiently send a visitor's IP address to ip-api.com to determine their approximate country, region, and city. The IP address is used only for this lookup and is never written to your database — only the resolved location data (country, region, city) is stored. You can disable geolocation tracking at any time from the Settings page.
Data on deactivation
Deactivating the plugin preserves all your data. Nothing is deleted until you choose to uninstall.
Data on uninstall
By default, uninstalling the plugin leaves your data intact. To have all leads, events, and settings removed on uninstall, enable Delete all data on uninstall in ClickIntent → Settings before deleting the plugin.
